Welcome to the LGPS. It's a great pension scheme!
If you have just joined, this area explains how to make the most out of the LGPS, the benefits of staying in the LGPS, nominating a beneficiary, the advantages of telling us about any previous LGPS membership and how you can top up your benefits.
For your future (PDF, 2 MB) summarises the benefits of staying in the LGPS.
If you have a question about the LGPS, why not try our brief guide to the LGPS? (PDF, 406 KB)
Tell us who you would like to receive any lump sum payable on your death
By making a nomination on SPFOnline or supplying us with a nomination form, (PDF, 192 KB) you will be telling us who you would like us to pay any lump sum benefit to.
Please note that it is your responsibility to tell us if you change your mind over who you want to receive this.
Tell us about previous LGPS membership
If you rejoin the LGPS, you should tell us immediately. If you do not provide us with any instructions there are rules that we or your previous pension fund have to apply. This may not be to your benefit. (PDF, 121 KB)
You may also be able to transfer in pension rights from another public sector scheme, but you must ask within 12 months of joining. Tell us about your previous pensions. (PDF, 14 KB)
